Peter Shoobridge Emily has written some awesomely beautiful songs which are better known through her various collaborations.

This is Emily in the raw, the woman and her guitar, which, as anyone who has had the privilege of a live audience will know, is where the songs get truly tested.

Emily's performances are impeccable - these recordings quickly became the way I wanted to hear her wonderful songs, for no reason other than that the songs need nothing added.

This is a delight for anyone that still believes a clever and thoughtful singer/songwriter can change the world.

Emily is that and more, and perhaps she will if there's any justice...

"The Dark Road" is a classic torch song. Fabulous in this stripped down delivery, but it could equally work as an arena anthem. A great, great piece, musically and lyrically, that many a legendary songwriter from the '70s might have been proud to have penned.

But "Letters" and "Home" are the songs that perhaps leave the deepest imprint, at least for me. Someone else's heartbreak that seems to become authentically one's own. Favorite track: The Dark Road.

Simon Few I really like Emily's singing style. This track I first heard when I down loaded Almanac. Love the mood and will continue to try and catch her live. Keep it coming, wonderful and has revived my interest in folk. Favorite track: Little Deaths.

George The vinyl disc has 2 great tracks - the one that runs from the edge to the middle of Side A & the one that runs from the edge to the middle of Side B... Favorite track: Lord I Want An Exit.

about

Recorded live to tape at Toe Rag Studios, London in January 2015.

The Toerag Sessions is a collection of solo versions of my songs, recorded live to 2-track tape at Toe Rag Studios in London with grammy-winning producer Liam Watson (The White Stripes - Elephant).

Over the last few years, in between touring with my bands The Red Clay Halo and Vena Portae, I've played lots of solo shows. Often people will come up to me at the end of those shows and ask if there is any way to get hold of recordings of the songs as they've just heard them - just me, my guitar and my harmonica.

Up until now, that hasn't been possible, but with The Red Clay Halo currently on hiatus after their final tour last year, I took the opportunity to go in to the studio to record this selection of songs from my back catalogue. Many of these songs are the ones I usually choose to play at solo shows, with a few additions. The songs go right back to my first UK band the-low-country, through all my albums with The Red Clay Halo, and including a brand new song, 'Anywhere Away', written last year as the theme to the forthcoming British movie Hec McAdam (starring Peter Mullan and Keith Allen).
